Master's Programme in Law, Gender and Society Master's Programme in Law and Society FairTax, Horizon2020 research project

Umeå Forum for Studies on Law and Society

We are a forum for researchers, teachers and doctoral students who studies law and society from critical perspectives like gender, children, class or disability. We have extensive experience in connecting current research to gender awareness and integrating gender and equality perspectives in teaching. In our courses and Master's program current and critical research becomes an integrated part of the education.

We offer undergraduate education both for those who want to specialize in law and for those who want to supplement their exams with a legal profile that is relevant for the career. In our education we put special emphasis on the active participation and development of students. As we have successful research in many different areas, students will meet several senior researchers in their undergraduate education. We have worked for many years with pedagogical development on undergraduate programs and courses where Law and Society are important parts of the curriculum.

Umeå Forum for Studies on Law and Society also offers postgraduate education in law. The combination of traditional legal studies with courses, workshops and common writing projects, where the graduate students work in close partnership with senior researchers from many countries, provide our graduate students with a broad range of skills and tools for developing critical reflection and understanding of law and international legal research.
